Department of ICT:

 

The Government has given special importance to the sector of ICT for the establishment of digital Bangladesh for implementing the vision of the present Honorable Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, ensuring technical assistance in the comprehensive application and use of information and communication technology at district, upazilla and union level. Accessing the benefits of information and communication technology to the grassroots level, provision of infrastructure security; Maintenance; Implementation. On 6 July, the 'Directorate of Information and Communication Technology' was formed to ensure the delivery of e-services in remote areas of the country through the expansion of quality control and the efficiency of computer professionals.

Effective Purpose:

 

  1. Creating high speed electronics connection to the lowest level of the country.
  2. To develope appropriate infrastructure to provide information and communication technology related services across the country.
  3. Coordination of information and communication technology related activities at the public and private levels.
  4. The purpose of continuous maintenance of information and communication technology related infrastructure is to provide effective maintenance.
  5. Creation of ICT service to create professional information and communication technology professionals at the government level.
  6. Increasing the capacity of trained manpower for rapidly changing technologies.
  7. Expansion of information and communication technology knowledge at all levels of government and the public.
  8. Preparation of laws, policies, guidelines and standardization related to information and communication technology.
  9. Creation and maintenance of interoperability in the practical field of ICT services and products.
  10. Provide total support to research, innovation and application of new technologies.

 

 

Functions:

 

  1. Ensure and coordinate the use and application of ICT at all levels of government.
  2. Provide support, maintenance and support to create appropriate ICT infrastructure in all departments up to the ground level.
  3. Recruitment, promotion and replacement of skilled manpower at all levels of government offices.
  4. Transfer of technical and specialized knowledge of information technology to all levels.
  5. Formulation and implementation of policies to promote equality of government institutions and manpower.
  6. Formulation and implementation of policies to improve equality of information technology related manpower
  7. Take initiatives to serve the people in an electronic manner till the grassroots level, and thus collect data, distribute and conduct research activities.
  8. Ensure demand, quality and interoperability of machinery etc.
  9. Provide research, development and support for modern technology integration at all levels.
  10. Provide proper dignity and protection of interests through proper evaluation of the talent, experience, competence of the officers/employees of the department.
